We are now running from the new drive. After restoring the filesystems from backups onto the new drive (which has taken most of the last two days) and switching the select plugs and radial cables, the new drive is now drive #0 and our production drive. This will give us some idea of how reliable it is and how the rates of various errors compare to those for the old drive. If this works well, probably the next step will be the installation of the new controller. It seems simplest to postpone two-drive production operation until the hardware configuration is stable. Boot procedures and whatnot are unchanged, except that all the action occurs on the new drive instead of the old one.
