[net.math] New largest known prime

chongo@nsc.UUCP (Landon Noll) (09/17/85)

It has been shown that 2^216091-1 is prime. If this is true, then this
number is the largest known prime and the 30th known Mersenne prime.

Does anyone know the:

	* System used
	* Processor time required
	* Multiplication method used
	* Names of the of the people involved

I don't have access to a super computer anymore. Would someone with access
to a Cray 1 or a Cyber 205 (286's need not apply) like to confirm the
number?
