An attempt to run the new pack on the old drive (to settle whether the recent absence of errors is due to drive or pack) failed today. Guess what? The cylinder errors we used to get frequently on the old drive are still there, only NOW they don't go away on retries. It's not a pack misalignment problem, either, because we booted up the old pack for a quick test and it showed the same problem. What fun.
