[hacknews] plot

david@utzoo.UUCP (David Trueman) (06/29/83)

Plot(1) has been changed to accomodate tplot (see other news item).
It now uses getopt(1) and recognizes two options: -T and -p .
The meaning of the -T option is unchanged: it is used to specify a
terminal other than that given by the environment variable TERM.
Plot now sends its output to the standard output (the sole exception
being the Versatec) unless the -p option is used, in which case the
output is sent directly to the printer specified (cuurently "lpr" or
"spr"). Plot now invokes spplot for the Sanders. Splot has been
retained for backward compatability, but is now a trivial shell file
which invokes spplot and pipes to spr.

An announcement for a more general audience will follow.
