[hacknews] /old arrives

henry@utzoo.UUCP (Henry Spencer) (08/16/83)

I have formalized the technique we've used in the past for keeping
just-in-case copies of changed software around until the new version
checks out in normal use. In the past, we've often moved the old
file into /work and then tried to remember to delete it a few days
later. There are now two directories, /old and /usr/old, which are
automatically purged of files moved in more than a week ago.
