Yesterday I fixed a nasty bug in news -- the one that caused the text
of articles to be truncated at the beginning. Fixing it here is not
a complete solution until it is fixed everywhere else, but it will help.
The bug was described on the net a while back: the code for continuation
lines in the header looked for a continuation for the blank line that
terminates the header, and so could swallow text line(s) starting with
white space. Under some conditions the text lines weren't recoverable.
