[hacknews] disk drive cable follies

henry@utzoo.UUCP (Henry Spencer) (11/11/83)

After some hassles due to mis-insertion (WHEN will connector designers
learn that rows of header pins should have a box around them so that
connectors cannot be shoved on with an offset???), a quick test has
confirmed the hypothesis that our drive problems Tuesday evening were
a cable problem. The radial cable to drive A appears to be bad. Due
to the lateness of the hour (I was supposed to leave an hour ago), the
recabling has been left until later. (The testing was done with cables
routed the most convenient way, not through the cpu cable slot and
under the floor.)
