An article went by on this group which mentioned that the owner of a 5x5x5 Rubik's Cube had not yet attempted to solve his puzzle, (presumably for fear of never seeing it unscrambled again). To solve the puzzle you must first determine the solution of the 4x4x4 Rubik's Revenge. This introduces to new permutation which are not acheivable on the 3x3x3. From this the solution may be extended to the 5x5x5 case (or even the nxnxn case with relative ease. G.H.A.
