[hacknews] /dist filesystem added

henry@utzoo.UUCP (Henry Spencer) (04/26/84)

Activated one of the "spare" filesystems, the upper on drive B, for use
as a place to put things like the System V distribution -- stuff we're
looking at all the time right now, and which is a pain to pull off tape
in bits and pieces. It's named /dist. Shutdown(1) and /etc/rc have been
modified accordingly. To avoid long delays in filesystem checks after
a crash, the fsck on /dist is spun off into the background towards the
end of /etc/rc, so /dist may not be available immediately after reboot.
