Getty(8) has been fixed to standardize terminal paging and line discipline
during its startup, so that odd settings left over from a previous user
don't get into a new user's session. This could happen, previously, if
there were leftover processes from the earlier user still running, thus
holding the tty open.
It's happened occasionally that people have got paging when they didn't
want it, because of this. The line-discipline side of it is potentially
even more serious, but since nothing in V7 ever uses line disciplines
we've never seen trouble with this.
