Zodiac1 and zodiac2 have been partially reactivated. They are powered
on, but Star Ring is not, and they have been disconnected from Star Ring.
(The Unibus cable going into the back of zodiac2 is not plugged in inside.)
Their consoles have been cranked up to 1200 baud; talk(1)'s control file
has been adjusted accordingly. Some quick experiments at 2400 baud showed
persistent transmission errors; possibly the current-loop converters can't
take the higher speed. 1200 baud seems reliable, although (predictably)
tandem mode is necessary to prevent overruns. Fortunately, RT11 supports
XON/XOFF flow control, so tandem mode works.
Actually, zodiac2's console is still at 2400, since I (carelessly) changed
its baud rate before doing the testing on zodiac1. Sometime when I feel
energetic I'll see whether zodiac2 can take 2400, and set it back to
1200 if not.
This should permit reactivating the card reader, although it hasn't been
tested yet.
