New versions of lpd(8), spd(8) and hpd(8) have been installed. Changes include a minor cleanup and proper handling of the case where the device cannot be opened. More significantly, the daemons no longer fork with the parent exiting immediately. The effect of this change is that it will now be necessary to explicitly put the process in the background when restarting a daemon (e.g. `/lib/lpd &'). This seemed like a small price to pay for the increased efficiency. -- David Trueman @ U of Toronto Zoology {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!david
