It seems that the RJE system at the other end folds input lines longer than
80 characters (we'll never be rid of punch cards as long as there's an IBM).
Since it is better to have to resubmit at this end than run your job and
find it didn't work, rje(1) will complain and exit if it encounters input
lines longer than 80 characters. It will also reject any input containing
non-ascii characters or non-space control characters.
