The spoolers(1) now recognize a restriction option (-r) which specifies special requirements for a particular print job. These might include a particular font, letterhead, labels, etc. If any restriction is requested, the job is printed only if that restriction is matched by the contents of the ``restrict'' file in the spool directory. The spoolers(1) (lpr, hpr ...) now check for sequentially numbered sub-directories in the spooler directory. If one or more exists, the restrictions listed are checked against restrictions requested by the user with the new `-r' option. The spooler tries to match the requests, leaving total mismatches in the last sub-directory. The effect of all this is that we can now run our two laser printers with a single spooler (hpr) that recognizes to which printer a particular job should be sent. Ms(1) generates appropriate restrictions. -- David Trueman @ U of Toronto Zoology {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!david
