One of the submissions to this net asked for commentary and opinion on "The Fire Unleashed," the alleged documentary about nuclear power. In my position as an operations officer for the Emergency Management Agency (formerly called Civil Defense) of a city near Seabrook, NH, I have had to spend many hours recently in courses and seminars for training. These were given by the NRC, EPA, FEMA, etc. Most recently, I attended a 40-hour course on nuclear power plant accident damage assessment at the FEMA National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland. It is my informed opinion that the program "The Fire Unleashed" is pure unadulterated bologna. If the media cannot produce a better program about nuclear power, then maybe they should stick to soap operas. Personally, given the opportunity, I would have no fears about living right next to Seabrook Station, even when it's running at full power. Remember, nukes do it all night long. --Don Black (...dec-vax!dec-rhea!dec-pundit!black)
