It has not proven practical to set up a special group here for maintaining the empire game (sorry - empire world). As a result, I have had to install the game set user-id and make the files 700 mode. As a result of this, people who gets runaway empire processes are unable to kill them themselves (this seems to happen sometimes when a plane crashes, for one). In order to help people kill these processes, I've set up a program to allow people to kill empire processes themselves. Naturally, this program is set user-id. It works by checking that the user is the same person who started the process to be killed. I've also implemented a new command to replace the defective "coastwatch." It works slightly differently : in particular, it reports on any ships near any of your sectors, as opposed to working for a specific set of co-ordinates. This command was needed since our game was set up to have a lot of long rivers and thus has become very navally oriented. This was becuase (of course) I didn't have the source, so it was hard to pass arguments to the command. If you want the source to either of these, please let me know. Greg Dudek
