I am going nuts!! Here is the sad story. About 4 years ago we got the distribution of empire from the June Boulder conference. I brought it up under Version 7 with minor problems. Like seek -- lseek and various V6 garbage. Well there was virtually no problem and it was fun playing it for the summer. That was on an PDP 11/34. A while later we got 2.8BSD and had fun getting that system up with spastic job control. Anyway, we got a VAX 11/780 and everyone forgot about the poor old 34. Except for us people who liked to play empire because, that was the only machine we had the code for. When we joined USENET a short while ago, we got a few of the new groups, but nothing really exciting(can.ALL). Today we got a complete list of news groups and I was overjoyed to find net.games.emp. It seems this game has really caught on. Anyway that was a long time ago and on an RK05. I think DEC scratched the disk I had all the recent (worked on) stuff. Also, to make matters as bad as they can possibly be, the magtape on which I had the backup of it was corrupted. I really don't want to go through that stuff again. Especially since it doesn't use stdio. Agriculture might be nice. Also does anyone remember the bug about flying from an aircraft carrier? Infinite fuel resources, the Saudi Arabi of the air. Anyway, the reason for this is to know where and how I can get the current sources for empire or binaries for a VAX. Please! I am: (in agony) utcsrgv!garfield!sean Sean Byrne PS. The sources of say 'empglb.c' are dated 1976!! Ancient history!!!!
