This is NOT a personal insult to anyone, so please do not take it
as such. BUT: Be a bit wary about sending tapes around the country.
Some guy out at UCSD promised me he'd put a copy of Empire on a
tape if I sent it out to him. That was six months ago. No amount
of requests, pleading, or insults got it back, not even a "Ha! Ha!
sucker!". I refused to learn my lesson and have another one out
right now. This one I have far more faith in, for various reasons.
The majority of times you will not be ripped off, but, be prepared.

I want to insult someone, and I think that the last article writen
by David C. Kovar was pretty insulting. You did not give any names,
you just called everyone male at UCSD liars, cheats and thieves.
I know Dave Pare, and can say that he would never promise to copy
Empire onto any magnetic media, since he doesn't even have the
source (officially).

If you knew better, you would know that you cannot get the Empire
source legally, and if you wanted the distribution package, write to
the author for it. I am personally offended that you would make such
a broad denounciation, and start it out with "I don't want to offend
anyone." In the future, clarify who, what, where and when before you
start slandering people.

As a UCSD Student, I am replying to this absurd article, and I urge
everyone at UCSD and San Diego, or anywhere for that matter to flood
David C. Kovar (dartvax!davidk) with lots of mail, so as to teach
him his lack of proper net etiquette.

I did not insult all of UCSD, and I am sorry that you took it that
way. I was trying to point out that not everyone out there is as
honest and pure as you are. You can't argue with that, I hope. I
will NOT name names, there is no point in it. If I did, would you
run over and get the tape? I doubt it. You'd probably yell at me for
insulting someone personally via the net. I HAVE written the author,
PSL, about getting Empire. I also have a tape waiting with one of his
"official" distributors. Hopefully that will pan out.

So: My appologies to all of UCSD, you're great people, did not mean to
slander you by pointing out that you had a bad apple in your midst.
Apparently some others have a few guilt feelings lying around.

Sorry, one more point. net etiquette also suggests that:
	a) You do not make personal attacks on the net. You did.
	b) That you not use the net to flood someone with mail.
You suggested that all UCSD and San Diego do so.

Please go back and read Emily Post and net etiquette and then flame
at me. Perhaps I will take you a bit more seriously then.

Oh boy. Brian has his facts a bit bent out of shape here. I do
have permission to copy empire onto a tape; as long as I notify
Peter Langston about who is getting what, I can load up as many
tapes as I wish. Secondly, although it may be a bit crass to say
that "some guy at UCSD did thus-and-so" and not give him a name
(implicating everyone at UCSD thereby), I'm sure that David Kovar
didn't really intend to do that.

I've sent tapes of old empire to several different people; they
told me they were sending tapes, I got the tapes, I mounted them,
loaded empire onto them, and sent them away. I even got thank-you
letters from these people. I am really curious about this person
at UCSD that Mr. Kovar sent his tape to.

How about using net.flame(?), so I don't have to read these arguments?
