<The computer resigns. Do you wish to pound the computer into submission?> I think you all are trying to make the vax empire game too complicated. By my tenth game I had developed a very simple strategy: build armies and build troop transports. That's it. Initially, build armies and explore your island. Have the second or third city you find start building troop transports. Every time a troop transport gets built, plop 4 or 5 armies aboard and start exploring the oceans. Ideally, you will only drop off armies at unowned cities on continents which you don't have a foothold on, or you will drop armies on top of the computer's cities. These new cities will start producing armies and subjugating the new island. The whole point of this, of course, is to expand as quickly as you can. Don't bother using armies to defend your cities -- the computer isn't expanding fast enough to attack you. The one problem I've found with this approach is that I meet the computer so soon, that it refuses to recognize the fact that I will win the game and it forces me to destroy every last one of its cities. Also, it is sort of tiresome directing all those hundreds of armies. Chuck
