Since reporting bugs in Empire has become popular, I am hereby reporting a bug that was discovered by one of our players a couple of months ago, and, under our ground rules, made known to the other players after a brief period of exclusive use by the discoverer. The bug is that a weather forecast, even for a small portion of a country, is an implied forecast for the whole country, and the forecast weather becomes the actual weather until the player logs out of empire. So, your weather station keeps getting hit by tornados and hurricanes, and the rest of your country always lives under sunny skies. The damage to the weather station is irrelevant; you don't care whether the forecasts are accurate, you just want to try various numbers of hours in the future until you hit a good day. Another interesting use of weather is as a weapon (this is in the the pre-84 version). Keep making forecasts over your enemy's land or fleets until you get a nice storm. Then do an update of that area and watch the weather damage. Wiping out 999 military with 1 military: too well known to repeat here. -- /s/ Joe Presley (ihnp4!j.presley)
