In reply to the following letter I recieved : " From philabs!seismo!lll-crg!ucdavis!deneb!ccrdave@ron1.UUCP Wed Oct 30 01:45:34 1985 " " From: philabs!seismo!lll-crg!ucdavis!deneb!ccrdave@ron1.UUCP (Lord Kahless) " " Message-Id: <8510290717.AA12151@deneb.DAVIS> " " To: ron1!polyof!fern@philabs.UUCP " " Subject: Re: World Wide Empire " " In-Reply-To: your article <164@polyof.UUCP> " " " " Are you offering a challenge? As deity of the Klingon Empire, " " I will gladly match John Walton Jr., Martin Luther, Farmer McDonald, " " and Adolf Hitler against any leaders your universe boasts. " " Name the game and our method of access. " " " " Lord Kahless " I repeat an earlier letter posed by J BUCK From postnews Mon Sep 9 13:26:15 1985 Subject: Empire Game Newsgroups: net.games.emp Distribution: net We have a machine sitting here doing nothing. How many people would be interested in playing a nation-wide game of Empire? Perhaps the best player from each facility (school, institute, research center, technology center, lcm or hcm factor, whatever) could play? You would have to foot the phone bills to Long Island, NY though. (At least it's 300/1200 baud, not just 300). Please let me know if you are interested asap. I was planning on starting this thing October 1. This would allow ample time for people to log on and get the new INFO pages they need, etc. (The version of Empire we would use would be the one I discussed in the previous article. ALL BUGS FIXED (Yeah, right!), well, at least all known bugs.) Details to follow if people are interested. (No, we are not on telenet or anything like that.) Send replies to: decvax!mcnc!rti-sel!polyof!john or philabs!ron1!polyof!john PS: Only 32 countries, 128x128 world, nukes, multi-span bridges, and all. No cheating. ***** I have been assured that a game will occur if there are respondants (one per location) ***** so lord kareless, RESPOND... FTG

In response to the numerous responses to my response to the lack of responses to the zero-th annual world wide empire game proposed by J BUCK of polyof, I am writing this response. It was proposed that a game of Empire be played with some number (16 I beleive) of players, one each from the first responding nodes. To those who have sent me mail, I have forwarded copies of same to Mr. Buck. To answer the most frequently asked question, you would be allowed one hour per day to login to play empire. All login time would count against the game clock. And no Virginia there is no Santa Claus, ie YOU play, YOU PAY for the telephone bills. Given these provisions, if one wishes to play, one should contact J BUCK (decvax!mcnc!rti-sel!polyof!john or philabs!ron1!polyof!john) and happy emping. NUKE NUKE NUKE, FTG ps as always, dietz etz
