Warning: no math content. I for one have been pleased to see floating-point discussions on net.math. For detailed technical discussions of loating-point implementation, net.arch may be a more productive newsgroup. I agree that floating-point is not exactly the same as polar-bear problems, nor is it a discussion of the philosophical relevance of Goedel's theorem. But it is at least as mathematical as either of those. They also have more relevant newsgroups (net.puzzle and net.philosophy). I read net.math for the variety of topics covered, and would like to see discussions on all aspects of mathematics. If a discussion starts getting too specialized, it can be moved to more appropriate newsgroups. Incidentally, if anyone has a solution for the recently posted problem of picking phases to minimize the peak sum of sine waves, I'd like to see it also. I've not had time to work on the problem myself, anbut I'd like to see an answer. Fast algorithms for numeric solution are as good as analytic answers for this problem. Kevin Karplus
