Tom (tfl@security.uucp),
I fear you misread my intent. I feel that literary discusison of science
fiction books is possible and does belong in net.books. Whether listings
of books involving computers belongs in net.books or net.sf-lovers, I
don't know and don't care. But I suspect that is what upset the non-sf
literary subscribers to net.books.
I was specifically attempting to defend SF in net.books, while casting
a vote to the wind (as seems not uncommon) for some categorization in
net.sf-lovers. (It seems to me that most days net.sf-lovers has more
traffic that net.micro.all, though that's strictly subjective.)
It would be unfortunate if SF discussions in net.books were to drive
non-sf folk out of a news group which should not be a single genre's.
It is unfortunate that the occaisional massive volume in sf-lovers on
a single trivia topic drives some of sf-literature types out of sf-lovers.
Myself, I keyword-filter net.sf-lovers, net.women, net.misc and net.flame,
to give me automatic 'n'key for followups to articles which bore me.
