I'm new to videotaping, having just ordered a Sony SL-5000. While shopping for tapes, I asked one clerk if he carried a certain beta-format brand in L-750 length (3 hours at BII), and he said that he didn't carry anything longer than L-500 (2 hrs at BII). His reason was the same as an audio taper's reason for shunning C120 (two-hour) audio cassettes -- the tape is thinner, and therefore of lower quality. Any beta-format users who can comment on this? Reply by mail soon, 'cause I found an excellent buy on L-750s which expires on Dec. 24. By the way, this might apply to you VHS users, now that T-160 tape is coming out. Thanks in advance . . . In regard to Carl Blesch's question about video tape lengths, I have had a beta video recorder for several years and used the various lengths of tapes. In my experience I have not noticed any discernable difference in tape quality in any of the lengths, including the L-830's. Personally, if you can get a good buy on 750's and the length is to your liking, go for it. Happy taping, Joe Mueller tekmdp!joemu
