#N:harpo:13100001:000:476 harpo!kjg Jan 18 16:51:00 1983 A friend recently bought a VCR and discovered that one can't copy rented tape from one machine to another without a black box of some sort between machines. Why? It seems that the company\ originally recording the tape must add a signal to the video that the machine can recognize, but the television doesn't. The result being that the tape can be viewed on the TV, but can't be recorder to add to one's collection.... Kevin J Glass (harpo!kjg)

I am advising a couple of friends who are starting a software publishing firm (innitially based on the Apple for marketing reasons) which they intend to follow the model of a publishing house, including royalties as an authors principle form of payment.
