I have some pre-recorded video tapes that were made with video equipment used in France. I tried to play the tapes using my VCR (JVC-2600); I obtained no recognizable video image of any sort, and the audio signal is sped up (as when one plays the 33 rpm LP record at 45 rpm). 1. Could somebody explain to me the differences between the video equipment made for use in the U.S. and those made for use in Europe (or France in particular), that make the tapes not playable on my VCR. 2. Is there any conversion or reformating scheme to restore the tapes' content (i.e., to re-record the tapes) using some off-the-shelf devices? Please mail all responses to hound!han. Thanks. Han Nguyen
