<chomp!> Since so many people were nice enough to respond to my original query (on whether to pay $130 for a 2-year extended warranty on a VCR), I thought I would at least summarize the results to the net. Including all the private mail I received and the posted responses, the vote was about 25 to 2 in favor of trusting to luck (i.e. not spending the bucks on a warranty that probably wouldn't be needed). My decision was to tell the VCR place I wanted my money back for the warranty, which they complied with graciously (it was Video Concepts). For other reasons, I also returned the VCR, and after shopping around a bit, ended up with a JVC D235. This gem has electronic tuning, wireless remote, Dolby stereo, and front loading, and cost $650 at Crazy Eddie (who also wanted to sell me an Extended Warranty). I found a deal wherein if you buy 5 Scotch video cassettes, Scotch will give you a 1-year extended warranty for $10, so that problem, if it exists, is solved too. Thanks again to everyone who took the time to respond. -- "That's the biz, sweetheart..." Dave Fiedler {harpo, astrovax, philabs}!infopro!dave
