[net.video] Video Head Cleaning Device question?

kae@ihuxl.UUCP (K Alan Edwards) (05/23/84)

Has anyone else had as many problems with VCR head cleaning devices
  as I have?

I first tried one called "HEAD MASTER" but, my VCR would not stay in
play (really record mode as manufacture specified) for a second. The
velvet tape would load (VHS) and then immediately unload and STOP. I
asked a VCR repair-man if this is really what is supposed to happen,
and he said no. He said the tape should play through. He even showed me
on one of his old models. It would NOT work on the newer models. So, I took
my "HEAD MASTER" back to the store and it didn't work in any of their VCRs
either (Panasonic). The person at the store said that they would check
with the "HEAD MASTER" people but I have heard nothing although the store
no longer recommends "HEAD MASTER" to Panasonic buyers!

I later got a Discwasher Video Head Cleaner and even it only plays
  for a couple of seconds.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Could the newer VCRs have harsher sensing
devices for things like bad tape etc?

    Any advice would be appreciated!
