[net.video] Which VHS Camera/Recorder is better - Zenith or JVC?

rick@ihuxw.UUCP (Rick Ross) (07/26/84)

I have been looking at Camera/Recorder combinations and am getting
a bit confused. Hopefully, some of you net.video.experts could help me
out.

I'm interested in the new Camera/Recorder made by JVC. It's
available under two brand names (that I know of), Zenith and JVC.
The Zenith model is about $200 less than the JVC model. According
to the JVC dealer, the JVC model has better heads than those used in
the Zenith model. According to the Zenith dealer, the only
difference is the price. I'm not quite that gullible. However, the
specs that I've been able to obtain for the two models (primarily
covering capability of the unit's camera element) are identical, as
are their features. Does anyone know what the differences are
between these two cameras? Is the JVC worth the additional (14%)
cost?

In fact, I have not heard or read anything about the good/bad
elements of either camera so any information about reviews or
personal experience would be appreciated. Since I have a VHS table
top VCR, I'm not too interested in the BetaMovie camera (unless it
has a playback capability that I'm not aware of).

I'll post a synopsis of the responses and my momentous (dollarwise)
decision in about a week.
