I spoke today with a video retailer who told me that he had received a VHS Hi-Fi VCR (Zenith, I believe), but had to send it back as the Hi-Fi circuitry stopped working after 5 minutes. He also said that he had called his Quasar distributor asking about the VHS Hi-Fi units he had been promised. He was told that there was an indefinite hold on them as there were some serious technical problems with the units. Panasonic, which makes Quasar's VCRs, did ship a few to the stores but has also stopped distribution. [] VHS Hi-Fi is a standard in the same way that Beta Hi-Fi is a standard. You have been confused by different writers using different halves of the complete explanation. You can imagine that VHS designers had to dig pretty hard to dig themselves around the Beta Hi-Fi patents. Dick Grantges hound!rfg p.s. I have owned a Beta Hi-Fi for a week now which makes me an authority. :-)
