[] No, No, No! You all missed! [Well, most of you] I wasn't telling everyone to go out and buy a VHS deck tomorrow. I wasn't saying that VHS is superior! I presented the (few) things that I know about VHS and Beta. I explained why I found VHS to be a better thing to get (mostly because I got one as a present, but I would have bought VHS anyways). And, *MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE* I was saying that *nobody* in any previous net.video article [that I had seen] had even bothered to consider the future of the two formats. This is the main point of both my article and the followup. That is something which must be considered! As for the future (and 'for the Nth time') I don't have a crystal ball. I can't be definite about what will happen. I merely stated what I knew, and then drew my conclusions from it. If, when thinking about buying a VCR, you find Beta to be more popular in your neighborhood, or it is what all of your friends have, then by all means buy it. [In a somewhat sarcastic tone...] The right format for me is VHS. period. It isn't necessarily the right format for you; and I sure as h*ll wasn't trying to tell you what is. I was only trying to open up a new area of comparison that hadn't been previously discussed. To those of you who took my article for what it really was (such as rfg@hound), thanks. I enjoyed the exchange of ideas, and benefitted from it. To all those who either mistook my intent, or just needed someone to flame on about how great Beta is, I hope this clears things up.
