I am in the market for a switcher to switch the various inputs (cable, VCR, game) to my 3 TVs. I just read the VIDEO magazine article which surveys the available switchers. I looks like the Radio Shack amplifier RF switcher is the most suited for my needs: three outputs, at least 3 inputs (it has 5), rotary selectors, and amplified outputs (some of my TVs are 50 to 100 feet away). My question is, does anyone have any experience with this or similar selectors? Are there any problems with the amplifier types? Does anyone have any recommendations? The article is just a survey; it does not rate the various models. Any help would be appreciated. Bob Gilbert

I use a Recoton V612 switching box for my system. It has 6 inputs and 3 outputs. The outputs are all amplified and the switching is done electronically (ie push a button to select the input, then push another button to select the output, with an LED matrix to show the current connections). (I used to have a RS non-amplified switcher, which had a tendency to create interference between the outputs.) Any input can be connected to any output and you can even connect multiple inputs to one output (although this does not produce any useful results). I have been very happy with the performance of this unit. However, Recoton seems to have a high infant mortality rate -- I had to exchange the first unit after one day of use and I have had similar experiences with other Recoton equipment. For this reason I do not recommend mail order purchases for their products. Raan Young (hp-pcd!raan)
