Why is it (nearly) impossible to get technical specs on VCRs (eg.: horizontal resolution, signal/noise)? You wouldn't be expected to buy audio equipment without such information, so why is video any different? The average I. M. Obnoxious salesman type just gives you a blank stare if you ask for this information. Anyone know where to obtain this information (easily)? [Articles are packed by weight; contents may settle during shipping] I have found that the "high-end" VCR data sheets that some of the dealers carry reveal the signal-to-noise figures and resolution etc. For instance, the JVC HR-D725 VHS HiFi unit mentions that the video SNR is "more than 45db" and that it was measured with a "Rhode & Schwarz noise meter". This kind of candidness in the video trade is rare, however. I couldn't find out any of the kind of specs I would like when searching for a video monitor/TV. If you need more info and have more or less settled on a unit, I suggest phoning the manufacturer's local plant and ordering a service manual. They typically run $5.00 and are worth while, even if just for the information on care and cleaning. Bruce Walker {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!aesat!bmw
