Does anyone know anything about the Koss 10 foot TV projector? I saw one at a TV store near here, and was pretty impressed. The picture quality is really amazing - it actually competes favorably with the Proton 25 inch monitor. The screen that comes with it has a gain of .9, and requires a fairly dimly lit room. We put up a Pioneer test laser disk and scanned through some pretty tough images, looking for resolution and distortion. About 400 lines vertical by 350 lines horizontal - and about the same on the Proton. The most suprising thing was the amount of clipping (overscan) the Proton (and the Mitsubishi, for that matter) did. The Koss has virtually no lost image. What I want to know is how reliable these units are. Do they go out of tune quickly? I've heard they they're very badly tuned as they come from the factory. Are the various voltage levels difficult to adjust? Is there good documentation? Any owners out there? Anyone know of a good discount place that carried them? The place out here wants $4200 + 800 for a motorized screen + 500 to install. Seems excessive. I'm also looking for info on the current top-of-the-line video laser disc players and VHS hi-fi unit. Can't decide which I'd rather have. The Pioneer 1100 looks pretty good, as does the Panasonic PV1730. -- Rick Kiessig {decvax, ucbvax}!sun!idi!kiessig {akgua, allegra, amd, burl, cbosgd, decwrl, dual, ihnp4}!idi!kiessig Phone: 408-996-2399
