I have a LD-660. Unfortunately, I bought it when they were $350 a copy. Ah, well. I've had good results with mine. Picture quality is superb, sound on CX encoded disks is excellent. I have had problems with rental disks, mainly with 'scratchy' sound and noise in the picture. Most of these disks were pretty badly battered, though (i. e. warped from sitting on the dashboard of the car in the hot sun, circumferential scratches from playing Guts Frisbee in the living room with them, etc. ad nauseum). The LD-660 is a good base model. It has no real special features that can be used on the constant linear velocity disks, though. If you find freeze frame or slow/fast motion important, then this is not the unit for you.
