Evelyn-
These words were not meant to offend. I am sorry they had
that effect on you. The view expresses about my wife is in basically
her own words(sentiments at worst). 'High Tech Garbage' is her term,
not mine and she has learned to make use of our machines quite well.
The time it takes for any human to learn to live with any ungiving
machine is hard. We all need to remember the first time we were
exposed to a terminal, computer, microwave, etc.

My wife is even smarter: she had me read the manual and figure it out.
After that, she had me answer all her questions.

Why is it wrong to enjoy reading the manual of your new toy?
Why is it wrong not to enjoy reading the manual of your new toy?
Who cares...?

P.S. Is it true that this Christmas VCR's were The Hot Stuff?

Just the facts. My wife also refused to learn how to work our video
setup. After three years she still does not know how to program the
VCR for recording, nor does she want to know, nor will she let me teach
her. The only way that she can operate the system is with a sketch
showing how each switch and channel selector has to be set to view,
say, VCR playback. If she wants something recorded, she tells me
to record it.

Nobody claimed that "all women" are non-technical, so please don't take
offense. But there are still people, both male and female, who are
not technically competent, some who have phobias about technical
stuff, and some who simply don't enjoy it. And I suspect there always
will be.
