I have recently purchased an RCA VKT 275 VHS recorder, and have had much fun using it. I am very much interested in reading about the recording methods (method of putting the video and audio signal on the tape) that both the VHS and Beta systems use. I am looking for good overview articles on this subject in some video or other magazine. Would anyone who knows of such an article please mail me the magazine and issue date where I could find it. Thanks in advance. Rich

A new magazine, VIDEO & SOUND (proclaiming themselves as a "high fidelity" publication -- and in my estimate they are) has run an excellent, concise article addressing this question in Vol 2. (No date on the cover). The article describes NTSC format and how BETA/VHS formats represent this on tape and how each accomodates Hi-Fi stereo. I bought this magazine at a local drug store, so it is probably available where you are. -fitz nlm-vax
