[] I recently bought a Sony stereo tv decoder and amp combo (the MLV-1100 I think, not having the data close by). It was $150 mail order. The stereo and other channel demodulators seem to work fine, but the amps are NG. They are on-a-chip-type amps and I thought they ought to be pretty clean, at least at low level (like a watt or so). They weren't. Sony makes no claims for them - no specs on them in the spec part of their book. THey sound muddy and muffled at all volume levels. Could this be just my sample? I kinda doubt it since both channels are the same. Anyhow, I don't see that I have grounds to return it but I was sure disappointed. Its only the second garbage design I've ever gotten from Sony and the first was obviously intended to be that way. So, if you are interested in the sony outboard decoder, figure on using other amplifiers. -- "It's the thought, if any, that counts!" Dick Grantges hound!rfg
