Awhile back I asked for info about a problem with my ancient vcr -- basically, no tape motion when the tape was in play mode. Several people cast aspersions on the capstan motor. So did the repair dept. at Pacific Stereo. However, after waiting an interminable length of time for some parts to come in, I ripped the vcr out of Pacific Stereo's hands and took it to AV Repair in Mountain View (Calif.). AV said -- filthy, full of cat hair, and just cleaned it. It seems to work like a charm now. (Okay, Sweetie and Holly, no more sleeping on the vcr....)
