I have always put a lot of faith in Consumer Reports, until last night. On the suggestion that Scotch VHS normal grade tape is one of the best tapes available, I went out and bought one. After recording on SLP speed, I found the Scotch tape to have the worst dropout problem I have ever seen... even when compared to cheap generic brands ( you know, the kinds that sell for about $4 without a sale!). Was I just unlucky enough to get a hold of a bad tape or is this a chronic problem with Scotch brand. BTW, my favorite tape for SLP is HG TDK. JEFF "If I only had a small thermonuclear device..."

[] You keep your hands off that little thermoneuclear device! 3M may or may not make poor magnetic tape these days, but years ago they made the standard of the industry and anything you do to them will take out my home town as well. Personally, I haven't seen an really good tape of there's in years (their's? theirs?? chees! I have to start getting more sleep). -- "It's the thought, if any, that counts!" Dick Grantges hound!rfg
