Dear Brian Please calm down, it's difficult to take people seriously who end their sentences with `!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'. And although I am interested in Super Beta I'm not about to give up my VHS recorders, nor are my parents, neighbors, and co-workers. In fact I only know one person (out of about 20) who owns a Beta. The extra resolution sounds good, although I understand it could have been beter, but I don't understand what you mean about VHS having inferior audio. From what I have read in equipment reports from some of the video magazines there just isn't any difference between VHS and Beta Hi-Fi. As to an inferior recording method, what's the difference between the two? Yes I know VHS puts more stress on the tape during operation, but beyond the tape's ability to handle it? I've have seven year-old tapes that haven't shredded themselves yet. Inferior video? From what I've seen between the two formats whatever difference there may be just isn't noticable, a case of `golden eyes' perhaps? The only real question between Beta and VHS is whether or not Beta will still be around five years from now. Of course with the spectre of 8mm on the horizon who knows how long VHS will last? Then you'll have to dump your old 8mm junk for the new digital 8mm with the cobalt/titanium tapes! --- Kevin Thompson {ucbvax,ihnp4!nsc}!voder!kevin "It's sort of a threat, you see.
