All the tapes I've ever bought are L-500s and L-750s, because that's the max my old vcr can handle. That's what I thought I had, anyway, because that's what the boxes said. Come to notice last night that some of the "L-750s" have L-830 stamped on the bottom. I suspect this explains why my old machine occasionally had trouble with specific tapes. And when that happened, I threw out the "bad" tapes, lest they damage the machine. Thanks a lot, Sony.
