Wow. My first posting. Unbelievable. Ok, video buffs, here is my sad, sad, story. My sister saves up all her money and takes a nice 2 week vacation in London, England. While she is over there, she buys the following videos: The Everly Brothers - Album Flash (Polygram) The Everly Brothers - Reunion Concert (MGM/UA) Dire Straits - Making Movies (Warner Bros.) All in VHS format. She gets 'em home, slaps 'em in her machine, and whap! nothing but garbage. At this point "Mr. Bell Labs who knows everything about science stuff" (me) volunteers to investigate the matter. After calling both MGM/UA and Warner Bros., I discover that (a) tapes sold in London are in the "PAL" format which is not compatible with American machines (b) there is no way to exchange them short of returning to the point of purchase (England). Apparently the American and English divisions of these companies do not deal with each other too well. This situation has all the earmarks of a lost cause. Does anybody: (a) Have any use for a PAL-format tape? or (b) Want to offer a copy of these in the Good Old USA format to "save the day" ? Anybody with help, please send me some mail, my reputation is at stake here. -- ## Mike Moroses, AT&T Bell Labs, Holmdel NJ 1-201-949-0938 ihnp4!ho95c!mrm
