I'm from the same area, and all but one of the people I know here who own video recorders have Beta setups. Moreover, the rationalization VHS owners (and salesmen) use, that movies aren't available on Beta, (if you don't got the software, blah blah) is just not true. It appears that most titles are being released on Beta and VHS at the same time these days, and I can verify that there is a better selection of Beta tapes on weekends at the stores I patronize. >I personally would go for quality, because a fuzzy picture would be a >constant reminder to me that I had made a mistake [:-)]. *** Boy, you aren't kidding. My mother spent more than twice as much for her VHS recorder, and the difference in video quality between our machines is striking. Not to mention the lack of pause and scan on her machine. BTW, the few occasions where I needed something someone recorded on VHS, It was a simple matter duping it over to Beta.
