I have to agree with this.  I'm from the same area, and all but one of
the people I know here who own video recorders have Beta setups.  Moreover,
the rationalization VHS owners (and salesmen) use, that movies aren't
available on Beta, (if you don't got the software, blah blah) is just not
true.  It appears that most titles are being released on Beta and VHS at
the same time these days, and I can verify that there is a better selection
of Beta tapes on weekends at the stores I patronize.

Boy, you aren't kidding.  My mother spent more than twice as much for
her VHS recorder, and the difference in video quality between our machines
is striking.  Not to mention the lack of pause and scan on her machine.
BTW, the few occasions where I needed something someone recorded on VHS,
It was a simple matter duping it over to Beta.  (No, I won't go so far
as to say the dupe looked better.  :-))

You've probably figured out that I'm not either.

Oh well, back in the early seventies lots of people argued long and hard
in favor of 8-track audio.  The older, more established system.  Tried to
buy any lately?
