In article <97300004@hplabs.UUCP> follmer@hplabs.UUCP writes: >I think LA and NYC have stores devoted exclusively to laser media too. Around the LA area, there are only four stores I know of that carry LD discs, and only one that rents. 1) Nickelodian (sp?), which sells records and sheet music in addition to video tapes/discs. Unfortunately, the selection is somewhat small, though many discs are a few dollars below list. 2) Ken Crane's, which is where I bought my LD player, and whose selection is much larger, though all are list price (except those on sale). 3) Music Plus, which sells a small selection of discs, some on sale, but appears to be mostly in the business of rental on its video stuff. 4) Dave's video. I have not been here yet, but they have the biggest ad in the yellow pages. Of course 1 and 2 above will special order any disc, which I assume 3 and 4 also do, but it would be nice to find a place with a large selection, and with a discount. Anybody around LA know of such a place? Anybody been to Dave's? How about mail order? (Maybe Columbia will add LD to it's Beta and VHS video club) Everyone talk to your favorite discount video tape dealer, and get them to stock discs. Brad Spear sdcrdcf!brad

By the way, there's a great store in San Francisco called LaserWorld that carries most of these laserdiscs. They also have CD's. I think LA and NYC have stores devoted exclusively to laser media too. ucbvax!hplabs!follmer

The following movies and videos are the latest releases on the laser disc format according to October 1985 Audio/Video International (A trade publication, not for general distribution). No price is listed and no reference to whether they are in stereo or not. I take no responsibility for the accuracy. Ladyhawke (Warner Home Video) Blood Simple (MCA Home Video) The Breakfast Club (MCA Home Video) Greeting From Earth (Video Visions Assoc.) The list is very short this month. One interesting bit of information gleened from A/V International is that RCA/Columbia Pictures has about 450 releases, of which approximately 110 are laser disc releases. Not too bad a percentage considering the small number of players available. Kit Kimes AT&T Information Systems Montgomery Works Montgomery, Il. 60538-0305 ..!ihnp4!mgweed!kek
