have any of the old, silent movies -- Laurel & Hardy, Charlie Chaplin, Mack Senett, etc. -- been released on video? i'd be interested if anyone knows where i can get them. VHS or Beta, no matter. thx. i think the deaf group at our church would get a real kick from watching these. -- << Generic disclaimer >> Fred Christiansen ("Canajun, eh?") @ Motorola Microsystems, Tempe, AZ UUCP: {seismo!terak, trwrb!flkvax, utzoo!mnetor, ihnp4, attunix}!mot!fred ARPA: oakhill!mot!fred@ut-sally.ARPA Telephone: +1 602-438-3472

You're in luck. Crown Video (sold in Crown Books stores and through Publishers Clearing House) have brought out some, at least, of Chaplin's full-length movies, and also some L&H, I think. Best part's the price: $10 a throw. Can't say anything about the quality since I haven't yet bought any. They've also got some high-class silents and early sounds stuff, too: "Alexander Nevsky", "Metropolis", "Cabinet of Dr. Caligari", as well as "The Third Man", "It's a Wonderful Life", and other faves.
