A friend of mine is considering buying a VCR via mail order (due to price)
and would like to know if there is any info on dealings with:
Tri-State Camera & N.Y. Camera
These are in New York, I believe. Has anyone had any experience with any
of these?
Basically, he is looking at a Sony SLHF600 for less than $600 at Tri State.
When he called to order, the man said " You must know that the unit is
gray market. That means it comes from Japan, the unit is Japanese,
the boards are Japanese, and (the killer) you gots ta send it to
Japan for service. But, for only $40 more we can give you a U.S.
model" So, my friend said to "hold the phone, cancel the order".
Sounds like bait and switch to me!
Then he called N.Y. Camera and the rude dude on the phone degrades Tri-State
claiming that they charge a percentage to use a MC card but he does not
so that even though he charges $40 for shipping, he is still cheaper.
Anybody have any info on these or other places (Other than Wisconsin,
who is generally good but higher priced).
