<---------- is it still necessary to waste a line like this? -----------> Sometime ago (4/5 months?) I responded over the net to a discussion regarding standards conversion. I offered to track down the address of a UK manufacturer of a PAL to/from NTSC 3.58/4.43 converter, reported to cost somewhere around #2000 to #3000 when I first received their information (about 3 years ago). Several people immediately replied to me requesting the information, but, due to having taken most of the past 3 years to unpack all my gear from my trans- atlantic move, I could not locate the information. Also, I misslaid the net addresses of all the responders when cleaning out my workstation's user file system. Apologies to all! Anyway, the address/phone number I have now found is for: Applied Video Systems, Systems House, 271 Merton Road, London, SW18 5JS, UK. 011 44 1 871 0955 (telephone). This information maybe out of date by now - if anyone tries and has trouble getting in touch, send me mail and I'll see if some friends can track them down. The unit to enquire about is the AVS 6000 digital standards converter. It seems to have a number of nice additional features which allow one to enhance poor signals and generally clean up suspect analogue input. The technical article with the information gives a fairly comprehensive theory of opps discussion and shows a picture of several units in use at the European broadcasting center of CNN. -- bob (decvax!ulose!bob)
