[net.video] Heath GR2001-- a good buy?

pgf@mtung.UUCP (Paul Fox) (01/28/86)

Have any readers of this group had experience with the Heath GR2001, or
other Heath TV's? Someone at work is selling one used, which requires a
little work on the power supply, and I'm trying to figure out if it's
worth it. It's a 25" set with electronic tuning and remote control.

A salesman at Heath told me the set used to sell for about $600, and this
one is going for "reasonable offer." Assuming I can do the work to fix the
thing, and assuming I want it to use with a VCR (as yet unpurchased), should
I consider it? Any potential VCR incompatabilities I should watch for?
I'm assuming that if I get a stereo VCR, I can run the audio direct from the
VCR tuner to my stereo, and don't need a stereo TV. Is that right?

Would I be much better off with a slightly smaller (~19") more recent TV?
