I have a question for any of you VHS VCR experts out there (Mr Video?). I've been heavily using my old RCA VET-650 (Panasonic, back then) for many years now, with no problems. However, lately I've found that a few of my tapes give me some grief when called on for fast rewind. They resist, barely moving the counter and trigger the stop function. But they work fine in all other respects. I have found that if I run them in the play mode for a few minutes, they will rewind. I have about 20 tapes that I use over and over, recording movies from the cable movie channels. This first started on one Memorex tape, which I attributed to that brand, but now it is happening with some of my Maxells. Is this just a sign that the lifetime of the tapes is showing itself and I should discard, or is this an indicator that my VCR is giving signs of impending disaster. Thanks for any info.
